2006 Greetings From Taiwan!

We pray that as you reflect back on 2005, you are reminded of the many blessings you have had this past year.

Praise Him!

Here’s a few of our blessings:
* Healthy family back in Texas
* Paige’s move to a new apartment (in Ft Worth)
* Travis’ new job (in Allen).
* Jackie had a great visit with the family in Oct.
* Our language improvements (even if just a little).
* Our BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) classes & leadership teams have grown spiritually and numerically

Thank You !

As we forge ahead midway through our 6th year in Taiwan, we want to thank you for your continued support – most importantly, thank you for faithfully remembering us in prayer. We are amazed each time we get an email, a phone call, or a note in the mail that confirms how The Holy Spirit leads you to pray. We are also grateful for the financial contributions to LM (Lottie Moon Christmas offering link) that supports us as IMB missionaries (International Mission Board) link.

Upcoming Events

Many of you are familiar with our busy schedule each CNY (Chinese New Year), so we want to remind you of the dates and ask for some specific prayer.
We will be in Thailand Jan 21 – Feb 8 for this annual event in which we have responsibilities before, during, and after. Pray for the logistics of this event to go smooth.
Specifically:
For Jackie as he oversees the logistics for 100+ seminars – room set-up, equip needs, etc.
For Fran as she assists Jackie on site for any last minute logistical needs for the seminars. Also pray for God’s empowerment as she teaches a Bible Study on 3 separate days.
Please pray for travel safety for all – over 1100 people are involved.
Please pray for the guest church this year – Green Acres Baptist, Tyler TX link – as their team of about 200 comes to lead morning worship, provide child care services for the younger children and discipleship for the youth.
Also pray for the team from our church home Lake Pointe in Rockwall, TX link – who will come to scout & observe this event – & as they prayerfully consider being the host church in the future. As you can imagine, it takes months of planning to pull off such a large event.

Here is a reminder of this event: AGM is the annual meeting when we gather all our “m’s?? on this side of the world for a time of worship, training, fellowship, evaluations, and medical attention. Many of our folks travel from remote & very cold areas for this time of refreshment. Jackie and I consider it a privilege to be minor cogs in the wheel that contribute to this annual event.

Special Prayer Request

Please pray for Fran’s health!
A couple of months ago she received a shoulder injury while riding a bus and has been on medication and in physical therapy for about 5 weeks treating a frozen shoulder, bursitis and a pinched nerve. So far, there has been very little improvement, but God has used this as an opportunity for her to practice speaking Chinese, to give her testimony to a couple of PT’s who accepted New Testaments as a gift. Also, she has developed a new friendship with the only Christian in the physical therapy area of the hospital. This week, she changed doctors and treatment program. Pray for range of motion improvement in her arm – and less pain, especially before our travels begin in a few weeks. Pray that God’s greater purpose will be evident through all this.

In closing

We know this is a season for New Year’s resolutions.
Philippians 3:14b-17 “….I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward – to Jesus. I’m off and running and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision – you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track; let’s stay on it. Stick with me friends. Keep on track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal??. – The Message

For all of us, pray that 2006 will be a year that pleases God.
