Open Hearts Share Easily

This nation of Taiwan is in a state of unrest with the current political status. At the beginning of class, there were a lot of somber faces, until the singing of praises to God pointed them to our Sovereign God who holds all events of history in his hand. Their hearts were prepared through worship to openly share with one another from personal bible study and to share experientially how God is at work in and around them.

One lady shared how her husband was so troubled over the most recent political events – he shut himself in his room, opened a hymnal and began singing praises to God. She said he sang for an hour – those listening were blessed, and he came out from his room less troubled. Again, at bedtime, she said he could not sleep and he said, “This is ridiculous! I am allowing Satan to trouble my mind.??? As soon as he identified the source of his worry, he rolled over and slept through the night.

Another lady shared how the hymns each week turn her mind from the world and toward God, preparing her to share God’s word with others.

One lady testified through tears, and occasionally had to express herself in her Chinese as to how the stress at work had become overwhelming. She finally gave her stress to God in prayer – and God soon worked in miraculous ways. He gave her a new job, with better hours, enabling her to spend more time with her children, and to do bible study with us. This lady has yet to invite Christ into her heart.

One lady lacked confidence in her English, so she carefully had prewritten what she wanted to share with us. I love God, and I love Bible Study. Coming here has equipped me to serve my church. Thank you.

Another lady expressed how she has been coming to bible study for over two years and recently she learned that sometimes God’s will is not something we could ever think we would do. She was asked to teach the Bible to some teachers at a local High School. Her first response was “Me???? However, she sought God’s will, and she is now being obedient.

I heard all these testimonies over a lunch of seaweed salad (yes I actually ate it) and garlic bagel and a bite of custard pie (that’s all I had the courage to try.) It is a blessing to hear how God is at work in these ladies lives in their homes, the work place, and the community, but most of all in their hearts.

To his glory!
