Today (Sunday) will be the last day of the week-long lunar new year celebration across China, Taiwan, and much of Asia. Everyone will return to work tomorrow. We have also enjoyed a much slower week than normal and it felt good! In case you missed it, 2010 is the year of the Tiger.

The Chinese zodiac is a 12 year cycle.

Sorry for the silence on the blog lately. I’ve just found other things taking priority.
We went for a lengthy bike ride last weekend when the weather was unusually nice. I’ve uploaded a few of the pictures we took that day. Click the link to go see them. There is an icon in the top left corner that makes the pictures larger – they look better that way
Bike Ride around town
Weekend before last, our Sunday night Bible Study group went on an outing. It was the last gathering that Rachel would be able to attend before moving back to the US. We decided to have dinner together then send off a lantern into the heavens – sort of symbolic of sending off Rachel. There is a suburb named PingXi that is famous for the sky lanterns – especially during lantern festival. That was where we went. It was fun! See the pictures HERE.
I want to put up more of the London pictures before the work week takes over. I don’t have time now to tweak them or do very much to them so I’ll just upload what I have and get back to them later (I hope).
I really had a good time I hope you like the pics. Click the links. I didn’t link to the slideshow view this time. If you want to see them in a slideshow just click the link in the upper right hand corner area.

Which way do you prefer? Link to slideshow or link to album? Let me know in the comments (on the blog – not FB).
The day I arrived I just had a few hours before I had to leave town for the purpose of the trip – training.
The day after training. Again I had less than a whole day. Saw the zero degree latitude line.
Sunday, my first full day. Worship in St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Monday, left early with a plan.
Tuesday, next to the last day.
Wednesday, half day before departure.
As I get ready to go out for the 3rd day in London, I wanted to let you know I’ve put up more pictures (quick and sloppy). I’m having fun but getting really cold and tired. Maybe I’ll go a little slower today
I’ll try to organize and caption them better once I get to a better internet connection and have the time.
Just a quick note to let you know I put a few pics on Flickr. The day I arrived for training I was able to spend 4 hours in town before I took a train to the town where the training takes place. I’ll add to them and give them captions later. I had a lot of fun in four short hours. More later!

Friday was a public holiday in Taiwan. It is called 10-10 or Double Ten. THIS Wikipedia article explains what it is all about.
After hanging around the apartment all day we both needed some fresh air so we struck out at about 5 o’clock in search of some sky. We needed some wide open space. Good Luck! We ended up walking to the river that is about 15-20 minutes away on foot. Here is what we saw .
From there we went to Kiwi Gourmet Burgers for dinner which we finished off with a couple of what we call pudding cakes from the night market, for dessert.
