The crate has been in port since Sept 20, but had to sit until all the customs/forms cleared. Praise God for the perfect delivery date for us – Sat at 10 am. All 40 + boxes (mostly small boxes) arrived intact; all arrived safely except for one item that was laying loose (a plastic round tube full of blank cd/dvd’s). About 4 hours later, the delivery man brought it to our door – so nothing missing! It’s been nearly 2 full days of unpacking, rearranging, and putting things away – but we are almost done. Much of the stuff was food that we cannot get here (if we can find, it is triple the cost). We cleaned out the pantry and re-did it . We still need to put up lots of books. Jackie got the new printer set up and is still fiddling w/the turntable. He got the new phone hooked up; can’t wait for someone from the US to phone our packet 8 number so we will be able to hear how the sound of the ring is different from the TW house phone.

In America, the cost of following Jesus is considerably less than the costs in other parts of the world. I suspect that Luke 14:28 is a memory verse for new believers in many of those places.

Praise God for an open environment in Taiwan!
Super Typhoon Wipha has passed by Taiwan and all we are getting now is more rain. Even though Taipei was shut down yesterday things didn’t seem to be too bad. There were periods of high wind and driving rain but we weren’t ever in any danger.
It looks like it has downgraded pretty fast after making landfall in China.

Well, let’s see . . . I’ve polished off a couple of fun reads since the last time I posted a book.
The first was
I am really enjoying this series (even though I am only at the third one of 20+). The writing is light and fast paced. It’s really good for just relaxing and being entertained. This one get a solid 4 stars from me. Next up is “D is for Deadbeat”
After that one I finally got around to reading another Ted Dekker that’s been on the to-be-read shelf for a while (Thanks, Sarah!). Talk about out of the ordinary story lines – this guy is putting them out nowadays. I liked this one better than his last two though. I’d give this one 3 1/2 to 4 out of 5 stars.
Go to the library, check out some good Christian fiction, turn off the TV, and enjoy yourself!
Jackie got home after midnight from his recent travels. We’d not been asleep an hour, when “rattle rattle, shake shake” at 1:55 am. “Jackie we are having an earthquake.!” He was so tired, I think he slept through it. I was just glad I wasn’t in bed alone (even if he was unaware). It’s a startling sensation, but not frightening. Fran
