A new attraction opens soon in Taipei – a Cable Car!
I look forward to a new “outing” after our return to Taiwan. One of the things about living in Taiwan, progressive attractions are always in the process of being built. The amazing thing, most things are very affordable, so the cost is rarely a hindrance to checking out new developments.
While in the US, we checked into visiting the famous American Airlines Center, and also checked into going to a concert at the Meyerson Concert Hall….. the price eliminates us every time.
During my quick trip to Taiwan I finished my second book by the author T. Davis Bunn. I had first learned about him thru reviews about this book.
Drummer In The Dark
is a story that could have taken place this year. It is about the financial markets and traders in those markets. While it was about a field I know little about, I found the story interesting and well paced. The book was not as overtly Christian and the first one I read by Mr. Davis, The Great Divide.
I’m giving it 3.5 of 5 stars
I’ve been in Taipei for the last few days doing some work. Jet lag wasn’t too bad although I had a killer headache for two days after arrival. After a couple of days of good Chinese dishes I thought I’d have some Western food for a change. So I decided on Pizza Hut buffet for lunch.
You know you are adjusted to life in Asia when “Shrimp Delight” & “Japanese Teriaki” pizza with a side of “Sweet Potato Salad” don’t seem unusual and actually taste good.
As I write this post I’m snacking on some vegetable jaozi – mmm, mmm, good! You just can’t get this stuff in Dallas

Mark, a loving husband, was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary and his wife was really ticked off with him.
She told him, “tomorrow morning I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in under 6 seconds, AND IT BETTER BE THERE.”
The next morning, Mark got up really early before work. When his wife woke up a couple of hours later, she looked out the window, and sure enough, there was a small gift-wrapped box sitting in the middle of the driveway.
Confused, the wife put on her robe, ran out to the driveway, and took the box into the house. She opened it, and found a brand new bathroom scale.
Mark is not yet well enough to have visitors …

In today’s Taipei Times there is a blistering editorial letter to the editor on how one person thinks the USA should deal with China. Strong words.

Reflections of His fullness (June 5, 2007)
Today’s devotional (Power of his Presence) described how Abraham let God choose the land for him, and, as a result – God said “look to the North, South, East, West, and know it is yours” (paraphrase). Ray Steadman helps us understand this is an OT picture of the NT parallel that exhorts us to possess the fullness of the spirit that is ours in Christ.
As I thought about the BSF class, and especially the leaders, I realized that in the Roman’s study this past year, not only did they learn the true biblical doctrines of the Christian faith, but I have the honor of seeing and hearing from them reflections of how each of them implement and reflect the fullness of Christ.
Last night (Mon June 4 TX time), it was Tues June 5 morning in Taiwan. I knew that some of the leaders would be gathering for a farewell party for a coupe of our leaders that are being transplanted in other parts of the world – one to New Zealand, the other to an Islamic land. I phoned them during the party, to be with them via phone. They did the most amazing thing…. After they all greeted me one by one over the phone, they sat the phone down, and the leader who is being transplanted to the Islamic land played the piano, while the rest sang the precious hymn “God be with you ‘til we meet again”. I had a smile on my face from TX to TW!
As I pondered on the devotional in Gen 13:5-18 and Eph 3:18-19, I was overjoyed by realizing that all these ladies have truly come to know how to possess the daily reality of the fullness of Christ. I wish I could go into the depth of testimonies among them, and that is my blessing obviously, but knowing each personally brings me pleasure, for each possess a testimony that reflects the fullness of Christ.

Just ignore me – I’m fiddling with some settings.
