We have had an unusual amount of new ladies come to BSF class this year that have little to no Bible knowledge, and their comprehension of English is a little lower than most. They do great in written English, but listening to my Texan accent is a challenge for the new comers. Last week during lecture I felt an urgency to make sure that these particular ladies would walk away with one specific truth….. so I said in Chinese “Rú guo ni xìn kào Yésú, Ta huì cì gei ni Tade young sheng”; meaning “If you trust and believe in Jesus, He will give you His eternal life”. As soon as I said this in Chinese, the ladies applauded me for my Chinese. I said thank you (xie xie), but then said, “Please don’t applaud, because this may be the only thing some may understand today. Your applause could keep this truth from getting in their heart”. I was able to repeat this truth in Chinese, and of course the ladies cooperated, and didn’t applaud. Today at language class, I told my teacher, and she taught me how to say “To God Be The Glory” [Róng yào guigei Shén]. Fran.

Nov 15 Update:
Today, I want to give an update to this post. After class today, I visited a group fellowship. One lady shared how she has yet to become a Christian, but when her daughter was sick last week, she wondered would God listen to her if she prayed? She prayed to God and the next day her daughter’s fever was gone and she felt fine. Another lady shared how she kept repeating to her self all week “If you beleive in Jesus, he will give her eternal life.” I was so encouraged to listen to the ladies sharing.
