You just finished up with Memorial Day (we didn’t even take the day off
) but Wednesday we get Duanwu Jie - Dragon Boat Festival. I won’t go into all the details of what it celebrates or how it is celebrated just follow the links if you are interested; but I am going to put a picture of the special dish that is prepared and eaten. Click on the picture for a real culture lesson.
It’s really hard to believe but today marks our 6 year anniversary with the IMB. In many ways it seems like it was just yesterday. Then again, we can certainly look back and see how far we’ve come – not to mention the changes in our two awesome children (can’t call ‘em kids anymore).
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

From what I read over here, the buzz over there is loud. I’m referring to the movie made from the bestselling book “The Da Vinci Code.” People here are talking about it; or is it that they are talking about the talk about the movie/book?
I haven’t read the book and don’t intend to go to the movie. I’d like to – I’m interested in finding out about all the talk . . . but . . . I am not gonna give my money to what that which is deceiving so many who do not know the truth.
There has been much written and spoken about it. If you are curious I would suggest you listen to these two broadcast replays:
Part 1 and Part 2 and maybe check this article out
Finally, books like this one could help explain it in more detail. (Read some of the author’s comments while on the page)
Last Friday I had the opportunity to lead a lunchtime English class. It was a last minute thing – filling in where there was an immediate opening. A friend had put it all together and then couldn’t locate a native English speaker willing to take it on. So, rather than let it die on the vine, I agreed to lead for 4 weeks.
The English students are all students at TaiDa, the large university just around the corner from where we live. Not knowing anything about their level or ability, we just introduced ourselves so that I could discover what to prepare for the next three times we meet. It is basically just an “English corner” – a place where they can hear spoken English and speak English without fear or intimidation.
I had a good time and hope they did too.
Well the latest book was quite different than what I am accustomed to.
House is co-written by Ted Dekker and Frank Peretti. That in itself may give you a clue to what it may be like (if you’ve read much of either). The cover was clue #2. So that I don’t spoil it for anyone else – let’s just say that I found it interesting. I guess I’d give it 7 of 10 stars.
I still say that Dekker’s early books are the best.
