Go HERE to see a few pictures we took. In spots of the city there were some nice decorations.

Well I’ve just finished another out of the ordinary book (for me). This one was a historical account of “Magellan’s Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Globe”.
Over the Edge of the World
It gets pretty graphic in a few spots, couldn’t recommend it to a minor, but I found it to be really interesting. (I didn’t pay much attention in history class in school.) If you are into history, give it a look. I thought the guy did a good job and it is certainly well researched.
I know, I don’t make many entries on our blog. Jackie has worked hard and done a lot of things to make our website more attractive. I mainly wanted to drop a note, and explain, that I haven’t spent much time at the keyboard (other than lecture prep) for about the past month or so. I’ve been tending to a shoulder injury that requires about 10 hrs a week at the hospital for physical therapy. The blessings outweigh the pain and has made this experience worth while. Please pray for JJ and Tu, who have both inquired about my faith in Christ, and welcomed the Bible gift. Please pray they will read the True story about Christmas in Luke 2. Also God has gifted me with a new friend at the hospital named Ye. Pray that God will flame afresh her faith as she testifies to her co-workers.
Merry Christmas!
JOY JOY JOY
In Him,
Fran
Most of the books I’ve read in the last 5 years or so have been fiction. I rediscovered the fun of reading shortly after arriving in Taiwan. A friend and co-worker had the complete (at that time) “Left Behind” series. Because there had been so much hype and the fact that I had some time on my hands I decided to give them a try. I read like 8 books that summer; the whole series. I really enjoyed them. That got me started reading for pleasure again. I had become burned out on reading after reading a few too many bad self help books.
Anyway . . . I just finished a self help book. The first one I’ve read in a really long time. I’d like to recommend it to anyone who sometimes feels overwhelmed by their to-do list and or inbox.
Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen.
Have you read it? Have you implemented it into your daily routine? Give me feedback.
The work I’m doing now requires much more long term planning than I have ever needed to do. I am hoping that by implementing some of his tips and techniques I can become better at it. Join me and you too can have a “mind like water.”
but hey, it’s news to me! This may or may not be good news but TiVo is evidently coming to our side of the planet

I’ve read a couple of interesting articles this week that I thought you might also enjoy. I won’t spoil them by telling too much.
The first is very appropriate at this gift-giving time of year. What do you think about gift cards?
The other might come in handy either before or after the holidays. Living Simply, or getting more control over our lives and our environment, is something many of us would like to do.
Check ‘em out and let me know what you think.
