  1. I don’t think it’s going to be a big deal…if you read the whole thing, Brad reiterates several times that service should not change and that users won’t be forced to merge or anything. I think it’ll be okay.

Still, I’m also not terribly excited about it, and I’m not renewing my paid account until they prove to me that nothing is changing…my account doesn’t run up for a while, so they’ve got some time.

  2. This is a small portion of an article from a Reuters/Yahoo article. I think anytime there is this much $$ involved you should expect things to get more rigid & structured. I don’t think things will happen too quick but long term I would assume that the service will change significantly. I was using a free 90 day trial at TypePad – it is pretty neat. I didn’t see a way to embed into our website though.

“As part of Six Apart, LiveJournal will continue to operate as a separate division, the company said.
Although venture capitalists have not flocked in droves to fund blogging start-ups because it’s not yet clear how they will generate sizable profits, Six Apart received $10 million in funding in October from August Capital.
It was the second round of funding for the company, following a $1.8 million in fusion from Neotony Co. Ltd., a Japanese venture capital firm founded and run by that country’s Internet star, Joichi Ito.” Whole article is here http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=582&e=2&u=/nm/20050106/wr_nm/tech_sixapart_dc
