WOW!
I can’t remember being much busier than I am right now. Regular work, preparations for our annual meeting, BSF, language, life, etc. have worn me to a nub.
I gave my first lecture in a long time last night at BSF. It was on Paul’s 3rd missionary journey. I thought it went pretty good. It sure takes a lot for me to prepare a 40 minute talk!!! Anyway, that’s a semi-major stress out of the way. Consentrating on the meeting for now; we leave Sat for Thailand. We’ll be there working for a bit over two weeks and then we are treating ourselves to 4 days & three nights on an island. I just hope I can make it ![]()

It seems the moment of reflection comes in surprising ways. It’s been about 8 days since the kids left. We had 11 packed days, of just being together. Can’t help but reflect on how nice it is to just “be”, with or without “do”. We “did” things, but “being” is what sticks to the soul. Yea, there are things I wish I’d done, planned & followed through upon, and there are things I wish I’d said, but all that fades w/out guilt when you just rest in the joy of “being”. Being together, in the same room, same apt, same car, same city, same country, same continent, and same time zone. That was mighty nice. However, after every one returns to their own space, own responsibilities, own commitments, the one thing that I know – no matter what, where, or when, we still “Be” family. Thanks be to God for allowing us to be family into eternity, and thanks be to God who gave us a few days to be together in the now.
A Mom’s heart at the key board.
If you are like me you stopped making New Year’s Resolutions years ago. However, I think it is a profitable exercise to seriously ponder life and the future occasionally. The beginning of a new year is an especially appropriate time to do this. I just ran across an article that poses 31 questions that you might ask yourself as you begin a new year. Here are a few:
- What’s one thing you could do this year to increase your enjoyment of God?
- What’s the most humanly impossible thing you will ask God to do this year?
- What’s the single most important thing you could do to improve the quality of your family life this year?
- In which spiritual discipline do you most want to make progress this year, and what will you do about it?
- What is the single biggest time-waster in your life, and what will you do about it this year?

Well, we put Paige & Travis on a jet about 24 hours ago. They should be landing in DFW any time now. We had a great time! I know that they must be tired from the travel and the hectic 11 days we had together. Hopefully they will not have jet lag too bad and will be able to get back into their schedules without too much trouble. Lots of pictures are already up on our website with more to come.
