Well, Momma is happy – so everybody is happy!
We did some shopping yesterday to pick up some hardware and “things” which enabled us to finish the first of 7 or 8 rooms. Hallaluia! We are making progress. View some pics here.
Just Another Day
Today I accomplished:
Consolidated “to do” and “to buy” lists so that Fran and I can round up more of the things we need to get the apartment finished. I also gave my first seminar as a STL in BSF. It was #3 Personal Evaluation for a Servant of the Lord.
This made me happy today:
Found tubing and clips for the A/C drains
This made me angry today:
Had to walk around 228 Peace Park this morning due to cut thru being locked.
There is construction or something at the Museum and the normal path is blocked. I found a cut thru near the blood bank bus – but this morning it was locked
In the news today:
New way to do CPR is coming.
What’s that?
Today’s weather:
Coolish. After walking a while with a nylon windbreaker and the computer backpack on my back I can work up a sweat though.
Well it is hard to believe that we are almost ready to move into our new apt. We have worked diligently cleaning floors, cabinets, etc to rid the place of cement dust and tile grout. We will start fresh – and that is a nice feeling. We are starting to move our suitcases from the guest apt and hope to spend the night in our own apt Wed or Thurs night. We will rough it out without stove, pans, microwave – until our crate is delivered. Hopefully it won’t be but about a week. We have a coffee pot and a couple of cups – that should get us going – we have milk in the frig for cereal. Eating out on the streets is getting old, and man oh man am I looking forward to filling up the frig, freezer, pantry and start cooking again.
Fran
On the way into work this morning – around 8:15 or so – I decided I would put down a couple of thoughts.
1st – during our first 3 years here people thought I was nuts because I always wore a short sleeve shirt. I was never cold. Only once did I wear a long sleeve shirt. . . . Well, it’s a whole new ball game now. Since we returned we have seen the sun once and it is rainy & cold!. The people here are so used to the tropical weather that any time it is below 70 they think it is cold. But I now know that it does get cold here.
2nd – It’s amazing how much protection an umbrella gives. I guess I’m amazed at this because in Texas we don’t really use them. You just rough it out between the car and wherever we are going if it is raining. Here an umbrella is as much a part of your wardrobe as your shirt or shoes. You just don’t leave home without it. They work very good! (It might be different if it was a blowing rain)
3rd – The subway was really crowded this morning. I was squashed up against the door after it closed. I looked like the pelican that crashed into the window in the movie “Finding Nemo”! I suppose that many of the people who normally use other modes of transportation to get to work used the subway this morning because of the cold wet weather.
Better get back to work.
Looking forward to hi-speed internet,
Jackie
