When my sister came a few weeks ago, she brought us dried butter beans and jiffy corn bread. Oh buddy! Also, my friend Bess took me to the market this week and I was able to get fresh spinache for the first time. I’m thinking, “Spinache salad goes great with butter beans and corn bread”. Now, to prepare this is another issue. Bell-Boy’s job is to keep us caught up in fresh “Boiled Water”. His greatest challenge has been to boil and cool the water fast enough for me to prepare this meal. Think about it. Wash the beans. Soak the beans. & then fresh water a 3rd time to cook the beans. Then wash the spinache – twice in room temp water and then once in very cold water. Plus boil the eggs for the salad. Oh yummy! I’ve been doing dishes for an hour – the bacon, and onions – homemade dressing on the salad, oh what a mess! Oh what a wonderfully Yummy Mess! Fran

It’s always fun to send out a newsletter, then folks write us back right away. We really should get better at writing more often. I am so excited about getting to see Paige and Travis, our Mom’s and the family for a brief few days, and really hope the escellating SARS doesn’t hinder the travel in any way.
Jackie finally shaved off his beard tonight – smooth again. Yes! It’s been growing since Christmas, and I got used to it a little, but it is prob best that he shaved for us to go to the Candidate Conference, besides Paige said to tell him to shave it off before he comes home – so enought said. Jackie still loves to tell the story how she wouldn’t talk to him for over a week the first time he shaved off his mustache. She said he no longer looked like her Daddy, so I guess now she feels that way about a gray beard.
