Well, here it is December 1st. WOW! Where did the year go?
Fran and I are getting ready to go to the annual NASG (Northern Area Support Group) Sing-A-Long. We will get together with mostly Taipei Baptist M’s and eat some good snacks and sing Christmas carols to kick off the Christmas season.
Yesterday Fran & I were suffering from a pretty severe case of cabin fever so we got out. We did the traditional weekend after Thanksgiving shopping trip. We went to the Asian version of Home Depot & Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Here they are called B&Q and Hola. B&Q being the Home Depot wanna-be.
It was fun. We have started pricing home furnishings in preparation for furninshing our apartment when we come back. We need to know what’s available & what it costs here so we will know what to buy in the US.
At B&Q they actually had live Christmas trees – I was shocked! We found closets (they are not built in here), washer, refridgerator, etc. Later when we were strolling thru Hola (think Bed, Bath, & Beyond) they were playing ENGLISH Christmas songs. It was almost like a dream. Most of the merchandise was “normal”; the songs were familiar, but all of the fellow shoppers were “foreigners”.
You would of had to be there . . .
